You may request a calculation of the amount necessary to satisfy taxes that have been sold to a third party (tax buyer) and that must be redeemed (paid) to prevent loss of the property.

In order to obtain a verbal Redemption Estimate, call the Moultrie County Clerk's office as detailed below.

You can receive a printed Redemption Estimate at the Clerk's office, 2nd floor of the Moultrie County Courthouse, or one can be mailed to you.

Moultrie County Clerk's Office
10 S. Main Street, Suite 6
Sullivan, IL 61951
Telephone 217-728-4389
Fax 217-728-8178

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

For verbal requests, it is helpful, but not absolutely necessary, for you to have the property index (or parcel) number for us to look up. However, fax or mail requests must provide the name of the property owner and the parcel number.
The parcel number will look something like: 01-01-20-300-201.
One of the County Clerk's Deputies will provide you with:

• The current balance due
• The date of the next interest roll over (every 6 months)
• Will remind you that payment must be in full and in the form of a cashier's check or money order made payable to the Moultrie County Clerk.
• Will remind you to note the parcel ID# on your payment
• If mailing your payment, include address you want the Redemption Receipt mailed to

Remember this is an estimate only. If you will not be making your payment immediately, you should contact the Clerk's office again to verify the current balance due at the time you are able to make full payment. Depending on the schedule of your redemption period, it is possible additional charges could be added to your balance after you have received your estimate. By state statute, we will not be able to accept your payment if it is not for the full balance due. Payment must be for the exact amount.

There is no additional fee for you to receive a Redemption Estimate. If you have any questions, please contact the County Clerk's office at 217-728-4389.
