A proof of payment, otherwise known as a Redemption Receipt, verifies that you have made tax payments for a particular property for a particular tax year, including the dates paid.

A duplicate Redemption Receipt will be exactly the same as what you would have received at the time you made your payment. The Redemption Receipt shows the amount paid to redeem a particular tax sale, the name of the redeeming party, the date of the payment, and the various taxes, penalties and costs that were included.

The request to obtain a duplicate Redemption Receipt can be made by contacting the Moultrie County Clerk's office as follows:

Moultrie County Clerk's Office
10 S. Main Street, Suite 6
Sullivan, IL 61951
Telephone 217-728-4389
Fax 217-728-8178

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

• If making your request in person or over the telephone, it is helpful, but not absolutely necessary, for you to have the property index (or parcel) number for us to look up.
The parcel number will look something like: 01-01-20-300-201.

• If making your request by fax or by mail, you must include:

• Name of the property owner
• Parcel ID Number
• The Tax Year the original taxes were due (some parcels may have their taxes sold for multiple years)
• Your fax number if request is by fax and a phone number in the event there is trouble faxing
• Your address and to whose attention you would like the duplicate Redemption Receipt mailed to

If you have any questions, please contact the County Clerk's office at 217-728-4389.
