Clerk to the Moultrie County Board of Review
The Moultrie County Board of Review is comprised of three citizens of the county appointed by the Moultrie County Board Chairman with the approval of the Moultrie County Board. Members of the Board of Review must pass an examination after completing a course in assessment practice administered by the Illinois Department of Revenue.
The current Board of Review consists of the following members:

PRIMARY GOAL:
The Board of Review's primary goal is fair and equitable assessments.
MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE:
- On written complaint that any property is overassessed or underassessed, review the assessment and correct it as appears to be just
- Determine or recommend eligibility for certain property tax exemptions
- Apply equalization factors
WHO/WHEN TO FILE A COMPLAINT (APPEAL):
Only a taxpayer or owner of property dissatisfied with an assessment, as such assessment pertains to their property for taxation purposes, or a taxing body that has a tax revenue interest in an assessment, may file an Assessment Complaint with the Board of Review.
Taxpayers may appeal their current year assessment to the Board of Review during the thirty days following the Chief County Assessment Officer's publication of the assessment list in the county newspaper. All complaints must be in writing and filed on the forms approved and provided by the Board of Review.

Complaint/appeal forms will be available online when the Tax Year 2023 values have been published. You have 30 days from the publication date to complete and return your appeal packet to the Moultrie County Board of Appeals
