Legislators have recently passed HB 3878 which increases the Rental Housing Support Program Fee by $9.00. This increase affects the recording fees in all 102 counties throughout the State of Illinois and will take effect July 1, 2023.
 
This increase will change the recording fees in Moultrie County from $67.00 per document to $76.00 per document.




Recording Cutoff
Documents are recorded n the order in which they arrive in the County Clerk's office Monday - Friday, with 4:00 p.m. being the cutoff for the day. Documents received after 4:00 p.m. will be recorded the following business day. For recording fees, refer to the Recorder's Fee Schedule. Payment may be in the form of cash or check only.



The Moultrie County Recorder of Deeds retains records dating to the founding of the County in 1843; and is responsible for timely, and accurately, indexing, recording and maintaining all records related to real property in the County. These documents include all deed conveyances, mortgages, assignments, releases, liens (Property and Federal, State, and Local Government) and Military Discharges -DD214, to name a few, plus recordation and storage of plats of subdivisions, land surveys and monument records.

All recordings listed above, with the exception of Military Discharges, may be viewed by the public. Original Government tracts are documented, with a walk through history.  When viewing records dating back to the mid-late 1800's, the script and penmanship of our forefathers will leave you in awe.

The Moultrie County Recorder of Deeds has one Land Record Search station available for public use, with a $0.50 per page copy cost.

Indexing/Recording Info:

  • 1843 - 1959: All recorded documents were hand-written or typed in large bound books.
  • Sept. 1959 - August 1976: images photocopied in books.
  • Sept. 1976 - May, 1997: images microfilmed.
  • June 1997 - present: images on computer.
  • 1992 - present: Indexing of all documents on computer.

TAPESTRY: 

  • Tapestry is a wed-based site that users can access land record information from ALL participating Fidlar counties in Illinois. 
  • Tapestry allows for both pay-as-you-go access, and an open account payment plan, both of which are set up between Fidlar and the Customer.  
  • Index/Image Search is $5.95 per search, unless otherwise noted. 
  • Grantor/Grantee; Beginning/Ending date; Consideration Amount 
  • Legal Description – Subdivision, Parcel ID, Metes & Bounds 
  • Print Copies: $.50 per page printed (viewing images is included in the per search fee) 
  • Flexible Payment Options:  pay-as-you-go with Visa or Mastercard 
  • Open Account Payment Plan:  $100 per month to get started 
  • After Customer is signed up with Fidlar for Tapestry, Customer will begin their search by logging on to:   www.landrecords.net
